Niigata Festival

A major festival that originated in 1955, this 3-day event begins with a parade of yukata-clad folk dancing teams. On the second day, more parades—with participants dressed in traditional attires, and with the bearing of mikoshi (portable shrines). The festival concludes with a large fireworks display over the Shinanogawa River.
