Before coming to Japan, I knew that Niigata was a harbor city with a population of 400,000 facing the Sea of Japan.
The first impression of Niigata was that it has few skyscrapers, and the city is very compacted.
After I lived here awhile , I felt the city's vitality, and I was impressed with the cleanliness, and it is handicap friendly .
Both banks in Shinano River are very beautiful.
Moreover, the food is of high quality and is fresh and delicious. I think this is very important for a traveler.
While I staying in Niigata, I went to a hot spring and a skiing resort which I recommend you to experience.
It is very pleasant.

Before coming to Niigata, I had no knowledge except Niigata's rice is the most delicious in Japan.
After I actually came here, I think not only the taste of rice was natural, but also people are very kind and Niigata is a place in which it is very easy to live.
When I participated in the Big Snake Festival held in the place called Sekikawa-mura before, the big snake of the Guinness authorization could be seen by my eye, and I was been moved deeply.

Before coming to Niigata, I knew nothing about it.
The impression when visiting Japan was "there are many fields."
After I actually began to live, I felt the air is very clear and pleasant and people are kind and the city is very easy to live. I liked this city immediately.
Before, I played the Chinese game and studied the Chinese character together with children as a teacher of World Time, at a elementary school. I received a letter of gratitude from children and it gave me very happy memories.
I want to tell relatives and friends of my homeland that Niigata is the place of production of the most delicious rice and Sake in Japan and people are warm-hearted.
Student of the Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture, Niigata University Liu Yaqian

Before coming, I knew nothings of Niigata.
When I arrived at Niigata-shi from the Niigata airport, the first impression of Niigata that it was very quiet and the buildings are old.
After I began to live here, although it was a little tedious with rain every day since the time which came to Niigata was the rainy season, I thought unexpectedly that it was a convenient town that the station and the department stores are easy to access.
Unlike South Koreans, friendship takes a little more time with Japanese people.
For reason, familiarity was not felt at first, but with time, friendship deepensed and became to feel familiar.
The stores in Japan have a very high consciousness, the salesclerk will greet you in loud voice and makes you feel important and comfortable.
When summer came, the festival was held in Niigata. I was pleased to have experienced a sense of togetherness with everybody completely as I also wore a yukata and danced together with Niigata residents of large number of people. I watched the large and beautiful fireworks at the riverside.I thought I had experienced Japanese culture.
I recommend to the people from South Korea come to the snowy country in a novel, going to a hot spring, and drinking Sake, enjoy the Beautiful nature.
Korean Lecturer Sun Kisuku

Before coming to Niigata, I was in Yamagata for four years.
I came to Niigata by car, the seen from the coastline was very beautiful, and I was surprised.
The Big Swan is also beautiful. My family often go there on holidays.
Since there is also a number of bus and train, going to downtown is convenient.
When I go to somewhere to have a meal with a friend, I was puzzled that we have to take off shoes and go up on a tatami.
The people bow without shaking hands. I also bow now. It was slightly unfamiliar at first also in the meal. For example, the rice has no taste.
Since seasoning is surely carried out in my country, even pilaf and paella.
I grow familiar with the taste of boiled rice gradually, and already OK now! Since I alreay understood the taste of rice, it's OK! Boiled rice with fermented soybeans (natto) is delicious.
I have not participated in the big festival of Niigata yet. Dancing together with many people will surely be pleasant. I will absolutely participate this year!
Fireworks are also large and beautiful. I am looking forward to the festival this year.

Before coming to Niigata, I only watched the documentary program which introduces Japan by TV. I came by introduction of an acquaintance.
Since I came in December, there was a lot of snow. Although it is also cold and it snows in Scotland, Joetsu snows more.
After I began the life here, since there was no central heating unlike that of the building in Europe, I felt so cold.
But the people of Niigata are very kind and warm.
Since Scotland is also the same island country as Japan, we also eat fishs and shellfishes, but not in the flesh, of course.
However, when a chance to eat sliced raw fish comes, I don't say "I don't want to eat", but say "I would like to try."
After all, it is delicious except octopus and a cuttlefish. (Laugh)
The train in Japan is very exact. If it is due to leave at 1:59, it leaves truly in 59 minutes. It is amazing.
Since the method (getting-on-a-bus-from-the-rear-doorway, deferred payment) of use of a bus was contrary to Scotland, I was puzzled without understanding at first. It was wonderful that the front sheet of it and a bus was one sequence.
Beckham was on the bus next to me when the World Cup of soccer was performed in Niigata, while doing some shopping in the downtown area.
Many people were raising a cheer by the surroundings of a bus. I was surprised.
Since it is about 2 hours also when going to Tokyo, since Niigata has the Shinkansen, it is convenient.
An airplane can also go to here and there, such as Asian countries, Okinawa, and Guam. You can enjoy skiing and a hot spring winter, playing in the sea in summer. Niigata is a good place which you can enjoy a full season.

Utill Niigata I could not imagin a snowy country . It was my first time to see snow.
I went to Niigata early in April when new school term will start.
When it passed through the long, long tunnel with the Shinkansen, it was very impressive that the thin snow which remains in long distance mountains could be seen.
I thought that I am reary in a snowy country now.
It actually is not hard to endure the cold of winter of Niigata. Since the interior is heated so well, being out doors it dose not necessarily feel so cold.
I was interesting when I was walking on the way where fresh snow had lain.
The car, the house, etc. appeared like the thing in the world of a marchen in snow.
Naturally, the hot spring while looking at snow was the best feeling.
However, only winter of Niigata is not necessarily pleasant.
A spring cherry tree, the fireworks of summer, the autumnal leaves of autumn, snow of winter.
The Niigata festival, the fireworks of Nagaoka, the snow festival of Tokamachi.
These things I received warmly Air, water, rice, delicacies from the sea, delicacies from the mountains, etc. are delicious.
In simple and convenient Niigata, I six years passed pleasantly. I was really fortunate.
Please enjoy the four seasons of Niigata fully slowly thoroughly by all means.

Before coming, I hardly knew about Niigata. Since I knew that there is a Japanese school for foreigners, I came in order to enter this school.
When it came to Niigata, the impression that there are many rice fields was strong. It and air are good.
When I came to live here I like sports , since the sea is near, a walking and jogging is possible on the seashore. Also going to soccer games at the big swan, make it a very pleasant town in which it is easy to live.
There are a lot of famous hot spring near Niigata city. It's that convenient to go to. I like Niigata very much.
Every year, it a pleasure to go to cherry blossom together with amy friends and playing the games of Russia together with children as a volunteer teacher at an elementary school in the city, or singing a song. The lecture about the history, the culture, and the educational system of Russia was performed.
The interest of the children and the depth of their concern about Russia made very strong impression on me.
I was so glad that I received the letter of gratitude from children at the tear came out.
I want to carry out PR of Niigata to the friend and relative who are present in a myhomeland.

The modern fashion for young people are very stylish. It becomes helpful very much.
